Family and Consumer Sciences 

This course, under the instruction of Mrs. Melodie Vinyard, is designed to empower individuals to manage
the challenges of living and working in a diverse, global society.  The focus is on three major competency
areas:  daily living skills, personal/family interrelationships and social skills, occupational guidance and
job skills/preparation.

Foods and Nutrition Class -February, 2007
The Purpose of this class is to encourage healthy eating habits.  Knowledge in the area of menu planning and
preparation, along with consumer shopping are presented in this class through a hands-on format.

Senior Seminar
The purpose of this class is to gain basic knowledge commonly used in daily living in order
to develop independent skills.  The focus for the Senior Seminar class is in the areas of job
skills, career opportunities, employment, consumer and financial management.


Angelo and Kira listen very closely to what Terra is saying.

Terra is sharing with the class about her acceptance to  a junior college  and how she feels about her future.

Jon is trying to decide what his future holds and if he wants to go to work after high school or further his education.

Drama Preparation

Theatrical Make-up--January  2007
Students studied a unit on drama techniques.  They prepared a skit to present to the students body during lunch with a reenactment of injuries and other theatrical make-up use.  A guest from Performing Arts in Columbia, Mrs. Angela Howard, demonstrated how to apply make-up to enhance the performance.
