Stark students stepped into the past during a trip to Arrow Rock in September. Arrow Rock is a historical recreation of what the town would have looked like during the 1800's. Students toured the town and saw crafters in period costumes. Students wove fabric, watched a printing press, made apple butter and operated machinery to take corn off the cob. Here are some of their thoughts about the field trip:

"I went to Arrow Rock. I bought a school bus for $3.50.
 A man made a pot.
I was a printing press.
The machine made a newspaper.
I can read the newspaper."

"Popcorn popped. A man poured the popcorn. A woman sold it.
We ate popcorn."

"I like shelling the corn. It was fun.
I played.
I ate an apple.
A man cooked applesauce.
I went to the bus and went to school."
